Finished! - I think

Ta da! Here is my January Take It Further piece. I'm calling it finished, although recognizing when a piece is complete is sometimes hard for me. I do have a tendency to overwork them on occasion. For example, I had pictured lots of beadwork on this one, but when it came to that step nothing looked really right. So, just a few beads and done!

While most of the stitching is simple daisy and outline, I did use some stitches that I would not have known about without the Take A Stitch Tuesday challenge (also from SharonB). I used a bonnet stitch for the side hanging ferns, Pekinese stitch for the line between ground and wall, and some wheat ear stitch for - uh - wheat!

Doll club meeting was just cancelled due to weather, etc., so I have a free weekend. I may start on the concept part of the challenge. I have wrapped my head about a "group" of people I admire and have planned a design to represent some of their characteristics. More to come.

What a great piece! I'm glad you made this, everyone seems to be doing CQ, not me, though, I haven't actually made anything yet! STILL in the thinking phase, got a little sidetracked with some urgent costume sewing. Realise time is running out, so have to get moving now or I'll get scolded by Sharon, LOL. I've always called them Suffolk Puffs in Australia, although there is also a growing movement for Yo Yo makers and that is gaining popularity too. I am making a miniature quilt with little Suffolk Puffs drawn around an AUD 1 cent coin , about 4mm diam. when made up. Thanks for sharing your work,
Hooroo,

Lovely work. This is very striking. I enjoyed looking at the enlarged photo so I could see all the work you did.

This is very pretty. I particularly like the way the ferns and the wheat extend and soften the lines of the yo-yos which can be sort of clunky by themselves. What did you do at the base of the vase? If you mentioned that I missed it.

I knew this would turn out to be gorgeous - I was right! I bet it is even more so in real life; those yoyos give such a wonferdul texture. And good on you for using the TAST stitches like that. I especially love the effect of the bonnet stitch.

I'm enjoying all your fancy stitches. All done in your usual detailed and creative fashion. Sorry you had to cancel doll club. We had only three of us, but we whooped it up anyway. Keep on stitching.

What a marvelous way to use yo yos- they are so naturally integrated into this piece. You motivate me to play around with mine that are still sitting in the drawer!
