Today I dabbled in some dimensional appliqué. The first section is about using raw edge fabric pieces.
I fused two fabrics together and cut out some simple shapes. Because the fabrics have been fused, it’s not necessary to stitch down the edges. I just stitched a center for the flowers and that secured all three layers to the background.
I was surprised at how much I like how this turned out. Quick and easy, but the additional layers really make the piece interesting. This technique may need to go in my bag of “go-to” tricks!

Liz, I really like that 3D effect. I've seen a few projects in books and magazines along those lines and thought I would like to try it one day.
